These are some of the services that I like at the Singapore Library. Due to proper usage of technology, they are able to provide useful online services.

1. Website has all the information on library resources, opening hours and events.
2. eMagazines are available. The titles are wide variety from business, computers, fashion to travel. They are not the latest publish but never the less, provides good reading pleasure.
3. eJournals and certain range of ebooks are avaiable as well.
4. For those who still prefer to read from paper, yon still stay at home and yet be able to search the entire library catalog at a mouse click on the National Library Portal! Ok a few more mouse clicks actually to do that. Search, reserve the book and collect it at any of your preferred (nearest library). A small admin fee applies for this service. Someday, I predict they will delivered it to your home via Singpost.
5. When you have a library book that is due to be to return, you don’t have to go all the way to the library to renew, you just have to visit the National Library website to login and renew your book!

So with services like this, lets make use of them read more books today!

Its the time of the year where cash registers of retail shops work non-stop. Everybody seems to have spare cash to spend this year partly due to the strong Singapore Economy. More bonus are expected…increase of retail profits BUT why there is still no increase of gifts to charity. As of this post, only 58.94% of the food items are fulfilled.

Think that it is difficult to start a brand new wordpress blog site? never fear because this are some simple tips to start your wordpress blog. Your own wordpress blog like mine, mobile.islikethat.com not the free blog site form wordpress.org

1. Depending on your web hosting service provider, you can use Fantastico or Plesk to install wordpress by a few clicks of the button
2. After the above, in your wordpress blog, set up some of important settings at the admin portal. Go to Options->General to set your blog site name, Tagline and date & time. FYI, the email address in this page is used by the wordpress blog to send you notifications such as comments.

Google has invited selected group of people(me excluded) to try their new wiki model codename “knol”. Like wikipedia, it aims to encourage experts to write on the topic and share the knowledge. I love wikipedia for the information which they provides. However, the concern is the accuracy of the information in a Wiki-like site.

So my concern here is how Google will be able to ensure the reliability of it’s own wiki. There is a need to create a proper rating system to ensure that the writer is of some substance to share his/her knowledge. Hope that they have something in mind to ensure that.

One night, in front of my macbook, I feel a sensation. Something strange. I ignore it. Maybe it is due to weather recently being so cold….The next morning, after brushing my teeth, the sensation change to a slight pain…

Reach office….Now is worse but as a man who is able endure pain, I thought I can hang on and be tough. Got some work to do as well. By lunch time, I felt giddy….the pain is making me dizzy….can’t stand properly. Wobble to the toilet, wash my face and rinse my mouth with warm water added with some salt…Got slightly better but still knows that this is very bad. Call for appointment and the latest is tomorrow noon. Have to hang on for another day….

At night, tried to sleep, toss and turn….the pain is too much. Tried to look for panadol but can’t find any. The reason is I never take panadol for any sickness…i never like to take medicine. But this time the pain is too much…So I went downstairs at 1am to buy panadol. Took 1…doesn’t help..took another 1 hour later…but still it is too painful….so stay up and watch football…and finally doze off at 4am……

So what really cause my pain!!!!! is………….TOOTHACHE!!! I think everybody in some part of their life encounter this. Mine is a root canal problem and it is going to cause a hole in my pocket….What a costly Christmas present

Branding. As some of you might heard(hopefully), I just re brand my online identity. What is branding? In my Alien terms, it is an identity that reminds people what the brand represent. Just like what Mcdonald reminds us of fast food, YouTube reminds us of online video and Google, leading search engine(some say the next empire to overtake Microsoft) plus Alien represents creatures from outer space.

There are many names/codes to choose from. So for my online identity, I choose Alien TYC. Why Alien? Because it’s pronunciation is close to my real name and this is the fun part of online branding, give yourself a online identity that you like.

The name of this blog site is ‘Mobile is just like that’ so what does it represent? For that, it is not what I state that represent the brand. It is the readers who will define the brand for my blog. Hopefully the blog’s online identity will be unique and many will remember they read Alien TYC’s blog at mobile.islikethat.com
