Watching my shares raise on ping.sg

Friday, January 18th, 2008

Last week was the first time that one of my shares in ping.sg raise to the top. It was a exciting journey. Watching my shares go from zero to hero…Number 1 on the chart! This share title is ‘How to earn a sixe figure income from blogging in two easy steps‘. The content on this share was not created by me. I redirect the content to the creator. So this means that you can still hit the jackpot even if your share’s content does not originate from yourself. A attractive shares title attracts viewers to buy your share.

Are you happy that Sun to Acquires MySQL

MySQL

To me, MySQL been a awesome database system. Some say the most popular database in the Open Source Community. In cases some of you don’t know, Wordpress is using MySQL as the default database to store your blog contents and facebook uses it as well. The acquisition is said to approximately $1 billion and will strengthen Sun in the online Web database portfilo.

I am neither happy nor sad. This happens when a company like MySQL proves to be successful to attract attention of the big boys. I hope that SUN will provide the same open source spirit that make MySQL so successful and well love by developers.

Should you stay at Baiyoke Boutique Hotel in Bangkok

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Further to my video on Baiyoke Boutique Hotel in Bangkok, I would like to help you decide if you should stay there

  1. You like to shop. Step out of the hotel, you are at the Pratunam area. Lots of shop selling cloths at low prices. Shop till you drop. The hotel provides transport to Siam Paragon, the more expensive zone I believe every hour and last bus should be 7pm.
  2. Pantip Plaza, the computer mall is nearby. Computer stuffs and ‘DVDs’.
  3. You like to walk. The train stations are about 30 minutes away. I am fine with that. Able to take a short stroll, mingle with the people although at times, it can get crowded on the way there.
  4. Just tell the taxi driver, Baiyoke Sky Hotel. They know. The hotel is so tall you can’t miss it. Baiyoke Boutique Hotel is located behind Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Many taxis located right outside the hotel. Just make sure they go by the meter.

Just my 3 cents of advise.
Lastly here is a Google Map. I mark down where the hotels, the train station, Pantip Plaza and my favorite chicken rice shop. Hope it helps :) (more…)

Why you should have a Blogroll

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Blogroll is a very cool term for ‘links on your blog site’. It allows me to showcase links to my friends’ blog and also other favorite blogs at the sidebar of my Wordpress blog. Its like telling visitors on your blog ‘Here are some blogs that you might like to visit too’!

It feels great if you have other bloggers who add you into their blogroll. Its like you been accepted to their blogs(home). They feel the same when you add their blog site to my blogroll as well :D

To be accepted in their blogroll is a challenging 1. Your blog (more…)

New(now old) Guidelines on Hand-Carried Luggage

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

For short trips, I always like to hand carry my luggage onto the plane. Reasons are:

  1. My luggage on wheels is small and light even with my macbook in it
  2. I do not have to worry that my check-in luggage gets smack and smash by the airport staff.
  3. One particular experience was that I forgot to take out some coins and a nokia battery out of the zip of my check-in luggage. I only notice the coins and battery stolen when I reach home.
  4. After arrival and clear custom, I can move out of the airport in super sonic speed. Not many airports has a efficient and fast system like Changi. I waited close to 2 hours once for my luggage in another international airport.

Sounds cool with the reasons above. However, things get edgy with your favorite (more…)

Know how your memory works

Friday, January 11th, 2008

One day at a business networking session:
Me: Hi my name is Alien. What is your name?
Her: Hi my name is Susan.
Me: Nice to meet you. How did you find the speaker earlier?
Her: Great. The topic on abc was good.
Me: Yes. I agree as well…..(thinking =>*What was her name again?*)

Does this happen to you often? Forgetting the person’s name after a short conversion?

It does happen to me sometimes and I need to find a technique to remember names. I been also rather forgetful on some of the information which I read so I have to find some way to improve my memory. (more…)

Earn some or lots of money with Adsense for your blogs

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Adsense by Google is always one of the first ads I place on my blogs. Why because:

  1. Little chance that Google will default or run away with your ads profits (unless they suspend your account due to one reason or another)
  2. Large variety of advertiser worldwide that will suit your blog
  3. Two modes of revenue. Pay-per-click and pay-per-impression(For blogs with large visitors).
  4. Able to select source of ads(using keywords) to be shown on your blog site. You would not want to show your competitors ads right? And you want to show ads that are relevant to your blog.

My article here on Adsense is just brief overview the potential online revenue. There been numerous debates by many on earning money from blogs. There are 3 sides of the camp to this debates: (more…)
