Round 1: Streetdirectory.com vs individual websites

Last year, streetdirectory.com issued statements to the owners of individual websites who use their maps to either pay up or remove the maps. Typically, these individual websites owners place the Street directory maps on their company’s website to show location of the company. So it will be easier for clients who wants to locate and visit them.

Winner: Streetdirectory.com

Round 2: Streetdirectory.com vs LTA

Streetdirectory.com was forced to close shop on April 1st 2008 this year. And some of us thought that was an April’s fool joke! (more…)

Benefits of Internet check-in for your flight

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Mobile is like that been rather quiet lately. We went on flight out of Singapore and went to Phuket for business matters.

For air travel, the usual check-in process is via the check-in counter at the airport. We would like to recommend that you try internet check-in for your future flights. The benefits are

  1. Check in at the comfort of your home up to 48 hours before departure(depends on airline)
  2. Choose your own seat on your plane! Print out your boarding pass as well.
  3. Shorten queuing time at the airport. There will be a special queue at the airport for those who check-in via internet and this is faster than the usual check-in queue

So try internet check-in for your next flight.

Geeks April fool pranks at work

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Follow Mr Dilbert and his adventures of all the ‘nice’ April fool panks that you can pull off at work.

I particularly like the one where by you make a screen shot of a colleague’s desktop and set it as the desktop background. Then we move all the files away from the desktop and put into a folder in their my documents, name the folder April Fool 2008. Your colleague when back to use their computer, will try to click on the picture icons on the background. Hahahaha. Oops do I sound evil…hehe

Oh, Mobile.islikethat.com will have less blog post for the next few weeks. Need to prepare for a important presentation and afterwhich, a short holiday at Phuket, Thailand!
*This is not a April fool joke*

Free software to record and edit your mp3 ringtones using Audacity

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Today, I will start a bi-weekly post on useful free software that we can all use.

To start the very first post on useful free software, we introduce Audacity!

Basically, Audacity is a free tool to record and edit sounds. We here at Mobile.islikethat.com are no great musicians or music editors. However we use Audacity to edit mp3 songs.

Like the chorus of a song? Want to use the chorus as your ringtone? Search all of the internet in order to buy that particular ringtone with the chorus but can’t find?

Now we just need to purchase that song(from your favourite CD or online store) and use Audacity to ‘cut’ the song into the part which we want to use as our ringtone!

So get Audacity here today.
